There is a lot of talent in college football that flies under the radar. And that definitely applies to the Sun Belt. These are the top defensive lineman in Sun Belt:
1. DE Tarron Jackson – Coastal Carolina
Jackson is the top returning defensive linemen in the Sun Belt in my opinion. In his career he has 134 tackles, 28 tackles for Loss, 16 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.
2. DE Demetrius Taylor – Appalachian State
Taylor has been one of the top players in college football the last few seasons. In his career he has made 73 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, and 1 interception.
3. DE Raymond Johnson III – Georgia Southern
Johnson III is an elite pass rusher. He’s one of the best players in the Sun Belt and G5. In his career he has 111 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, and 4 pass breakups.
4. DT C.J. Brewer – Coastal Carolina
Brewer is a tackling machine. In his career he’s totaled 117 Tackles. He’s also effective getting into the backfield with 11.5 tackles for a loss and 5.5 sacks in his career.
5. NT Will Choloh Jr – Troy
Choloh is a player I’ve raved about for years. He’s effective versus both the pass and rush. In his career he’s totaled 75 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, and 1 forced fumble.
6. NT Forrest Merrill – Arkansas State
Merrill is a tough, physical leader for the Red Wolves. In his career he’s totaled 75 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and 2 pass breakups.
7. DE Kerry Starks – ULM
Starks produces every week for the Warhawks. In his career he’s got 109 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 11.5 sacks.
8. NG Dontae Wilson – Georgia State
Wilson is a tackling machine, and makes a lot in the opposition’s backfield. In his career he has 103 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, 9 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles.
9. NT Caeveon Patton – Texas State
Patton is a bright spot returning for Texas State in 2020. In his career he has 128 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and 1 forced fumble.
10. NT Zi’Yon Hill – Louisiana
Hill has been dominant in the middle of the defensive line for the Ragin Cajuns. In his career he’s totaled 102 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and 3 fumble recoveries.
