College Football Week 3 Predictions

It’s time for Week 3 in college football. And it’s time for predictions. Lots of good football and interesting match-ups. Be sure to check out the ATS picks at the end.

Top 25

(25) Michigan 42 NIU 14

Michigan has too much firepower for NIU. RB Blake Corum and the rushing attack should thrive.

(24) Miami 31 Michigan State 24

This will be an excellent game. Michigan State is playing fantastic right now and has an excellent RB in Wake Forest transfer Kenneth Walker III. Miami was bludgeoned by Alabama and barely won vs Appalachian State. Miami is the better team, but so far they haven’t played like it.

(21) UNC 34 UVA 27

This game will be one of the best of the week. The Hoos have won four in a row vs the Tar Heels. The UVA offense has looked great, especially QB Brennan Armstrong. UNC got back on track last week vs Georgia State, but the UVA defense is much better than that. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see UVA get the upset, but I’m going with the Tar Heels.

(20) Arkansas 38 Georgia Southern 17

Arkansas beat the hell out of Texas last week and looked impressive all around. Most people believe this game will be 49-10 or something like that. However, Georgia Southern does get their starting QB Justin Tomlin back this week after serving a two game suspension.

(19) Arizona State 24 (23) BYU 21

This will most likely be a defensive game. The Sun Devils have the edge talent wise, but BYU shouldn’t be underestimated.

(17) Ole Miss 48 Tulane 38

Tulane and QB Michael Pratt pushed Oklahoma in Week 1, and they could get in a shootout here with Ole Miss. The Rebels ultimately have too much firepower, and they’ll get the win.

(16) Coastal Carolina 38 Buffalo 20

Expect a big game here for CCU QB Grayson McCall. Coastal Carolina has the edge in many areas in this game, but Buffalo is a gritty team. The Chanticleers should do enough to pick up the victory.

West Virginia 27 (15) Virginia Tech 20

I’m going to take WVU to win this rivalry game. VT just lost star TE James Mitchell for the season and Braxton Burmeister hasn’t impressed me throwing the ball. After watching tape vs MTSU I noticed he had quite a few open receivers downfield and he checked down instead. West Virginia has home field advantage in this one and an excellent RB in Leddie Brown.

(14) Iowa State 45 UNLV 10

Iowa State crapped the bed vs Iowa and turned the ball over way too much. Expect the Cyclones to get back on track and for RB Breece Hall to have 150+rushing yards.

(13) UCLA 38 Fresno State 31

UCLA has looked impressive to start the season. I picked them in their win vs LSU. Fresno State will keep this game close because they’re actually a decent team with a solid QB.

(12) Notre Dame 31 Purdue 27

Notre Dame has been flirting with execution. I mean…disaster. The Irish barely beat an FSU team that lost to Jacksonville State, and they struggled last week vs Toledo. Purdue has some big weapons on offense like WR David Bell and TE Payne Durham. This will be a close and competitive game.

(10) Penn State 28 (22) Auburn 20

Penn State at home during a white out is a TOUGH environment. Bo Nix has never impressed me, and he’s looked very pedestrian at times vs good opponents. PSU is the better team and I like them to win by a TD or more.

(9) Ohio State 49 Tulsa 17

Poor Tulsa. Ohio State is going to come into this game ANGRY!

(8) Cincinnati 27 Indiana 24

I was very close to taking the Hoosiers in this one. Indiana keeps it close, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled the upset.

(7) Texas A&M 34 New Mexico 7

Former Kentucky QB Terry Wilson has looked impressive for New Mexico, but this will be a tough tough test for him. Expect the Aggies to get some things figured out on offense and play excellent defense.

(6) Clemson 42 Georgia Tech 9

Clemson has too much firepower for the Yellow Jackets. I’m not expecting this one to be close, but I’m interested to see how DJ Uiagalelei and the offense does vs a P5 opponent.

(5) Iowa 37 Kent State 17

The Hawkeyes are the darling of college football so far. The majority of bets are coming in on Iowa -24 because of the hot start they’ve had. I actually like QB Dustin Crum and Kent State, and I’m taking them to cover this spread.

(4) Oregon 59 Stony Brook 7

This will be a good opportunity for the Ducks to get the backups in for some quality playing time. Oregon will roll in this one.

(3) Oklahoma 42 Nebraska 24

Oklahoma has too much firepower for Nebraska to pull a major upset, but I expect Nebraska to play better than most people think.

(2) Georgia 41 South Carolina 3

South Carolina struggled vs ECU and Georgia was dominant last week vs UAB and week 1 vs Clemson. I don’t see anyway that this game is close.

(1) Alabama 31 (11) Florida 20

I have a feeling the Gators can keep this closer than the experts think. I could see a 24-20 game in the 4th before Alabama scores a TD to close it out.
