It’s time for Week 5, and a full slate of college football! That can only mean one thing – it’s time for predictions. Lots of good football and interesting match-ups. Be sure to check out the ATS picks at the end.
Top 25
(25) Kansas State 31 Texas Tech 28
This game will have a massive impact in the Big 12. Kansas State is coming off a big win vs Oklahoma and Texas Tech defeated Texas. I believe this will be a back and forth game but I like Deuce Vaughn and the Wildcats to win a close one.
(24) Pittsburgh 38 Georgia Tech 14
How will Georgia Tech play now that Geoff Collins is gone? I believe they’ll have some fight but to be honest they just aren’t that good. Pittsburgh is a legitimate contender in the coastal and they should win this one easily.
(23) Florida state 38 (22) Wake Forest 35
This game will be one of the best in Week 5. Florida State is undefeated and looking to be a legitimate contender in the Atlantic while Wake Forest is coming off a close loss to Clemson in OT. I believe this game is high scoring with multiple lead changes but I like the way Jordan Travis and the Noles are playing so I’m going with them.
(21) Minnesota 31 Purdue 24
Minnesota is undefeated and playing spectacular this season and I’m going to trust them to win this one. The Gophers have a solid Defense, experienced QB & one of the top RBs in CFB. Purdue is a 12 point underdog and I believe they cover the spread but Minnesota is the better team.
(19) BYU 42 Utah State 14
Utah State has been disappointing this season and I don’t think they have enough firepower to stick around with BYU. The Cougars could be getting some key pieces back at WR and they win big in this one.
(18) Oklahoma 35 TCU 31
I believe TCU is better than they get credit for and they’ll play tough in this game but Oklahoma will get back on track with a close win.
Mississippi State 28 (17) Texas A&M 21
Last week my principal of the unranked team as the favorite winning didn’t work when Iowa State lost to Baylor. Earlier this season it did work when Washington defeated Michigan State. I’m going to trust my principal this week and roll with Mississippi State in a lower scoring game.
(15) Washington 31 UCLA 30
My model loves UCLA to cover the 3 points. My brain is telling me Washington is the better team and I’m going to trust myself while also trusting my model. Give me Michael Penix Jr and the Huskies by 1.
(13) Oregon 35 Stanford 21
Oregon had an amazing comeback win last week vs Washington State while Stanford continues to stumble. The Cardinal will be without star RB E.J. Smith for the rest of the season and I can’t see them defeating the Ducks here.
(12) Utah 38 Oregon State 24
Oregon State has been really good this season and almost pulled off an upset of USC last week. As much as I like the Beavers I have to trust myself because I know the Utes are the much better team. I believe Utah not only wins but they cover the 10 point spread.
(11) Penn State 45 Northwestern 10
It’s not a lot to say about this game, Penn State is good and Northwestern isn’t. I believe the Nittany Lions win big.
(9) Oklahoma State 28 (16) Baylor 24
This game is going to be spectacular and it’s almost impossible to predict but I’m going to trust my model and pick the Cowboys to win. Oklahoma State will need a massive game from Spencer Sanders if they want to win this game.
(14) Ole Miss 31 (7) Kentucky 24
College Gameday will be in Oxford this week and this is a big opportunity for the Rebels to shine. My formula loves Ole Miss to win and cover the spread. I know a lot of people won’t be on Ole Miss -6, the public loves Kentucky +6.
(6) USC 38 Arizona State 17
The Trojans have forced a lot of turnovers this season and I believe they continue to do so vs the SunDevils. Caleb Williams and Jordan Addison should have big games and the Trojans win by three TDs.
(5) Clemson 24 (10) NC State 17
My model loves the Tigers to win and cover this spread but it’s not something I’m too confident in. I believe the Wolfpack are a very good team and capable of winning this game. The weather could play a factor but I’m no meteorologist so I’m making this prediction as if the weather was normal.
(4) Michigan 20 Iowa 10
This game will be a defensive game and should stay under 40 total points. Michigan is the better team but the Hawkeyes have an incredible defense capable of making big plays & forcing turnovers.
(3) Ohio State 52 Rutgers 7
This game shouldn’t be close, the Buckeyes have too much firepower on Offense and an improved Defense.
(2) Alabama 35 (20) Arkansas 21
Last week I picked Texas A&M to win vs Arkansas and they did but I love the toughness the Razorbacks play with and KJ Jefferson impresses me. I believe Alabama wins this game but the Razorbacks keep it close and cover the spread.
(1) Georgia 45 Missouri 10
Missouri has been very disappointing this season and they’ll continue to look bad this week vs Georgia, give me the Dawgs by five TDs.
