There are 34 days until college football returns. Today he honor Memphis RB DeAngelo Williams NCAA record 34 games of 100+ yards rushing.
Running back DeAngelo Williams’ career at Memphis is one of the most underrated in college football history. He was a named a first team All-American in 2005. He won the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year three consecutive years. Williams rushed for 1400+ yards in 3 years in a row. His 6026 career rushing yards ranks him 6th all time on the NCAA rushing list. His 7573 all-purpose yards are an NCAA record. That also includes an NCAA record 34 games of 100+ yards rushing. Just an all-around dominant player.
Williams career and draft evaluation led him to being a 1st round pick in the 2006 NFL draft by the Carolina Panthers. Curiously, he is not a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Hopefully, some day that changes, as he had one of the best careers ever for a running back.
