Ranking the Top 10 WRs in the AAC

What do Antonio Brown, Adam Thielen, T.Y. Hilton, Davonte Adams, and Kenny Golladay have in common other than being Top 20 NFL wide receivers? None of them came from P5 programs. There are superstars and future NFL picks all throughout the G5 conferences. Here are the Top 10 wide receivers in the AAC.

1. James Proche – SMU

Proche will be the next SMU WR to make it to the NFL. His quickness & acceleration in open space makes him hard to defend. Last season he was unguardable catching 93 passes for 1,199 yards and 12 touchdowns. Do you remember Courtland Sutton? Trey Quinn? Emmanuel Sanders? Aldrick Robinson? Well, add James Proche as the next NFL Wide Receiver from SMU.

2. Damonte Coxie – Memphis

Coxie had a huge season in 2018. He caught 72 passes for 1,174 yards and 7 touchdowns last year, averaging 16.3 YPC. With Brady White back in 2019, expect Coxie to top 1,200+ yards receiving. At 6’3″ 200 lbs, Coxie is a player who has a NFL Future.

3. Marquez Stevenson – Houston

Stevenson had a monster season in 2018. He’s the leading returning receiver for the Cougars in 2019, after he hauled in 75 passes for 1,019 yards and 9 touchdowns last year. Stevenson’s quickness and ability to make defenders miss makes him dangerous every time he touches the ball.

4. Darnell Mooney – Tulane

Mooney is the leading returning receiver for the Green Wave in 2019. Last season Mooney caught 48 passes for 993 yards & 8 touchdowns averaging 20.7 YPC. He and Jalen McCleskey will be a fun duo to watch this season.

5. Randall St. Felix – USF

St. Felix is a big play threat and a player that you should know about this season. Last year he caught 33 passes for 679 yards and 4 touchdowns averaging 20.6 yards per catch. And he did all of that as a freshman.

6. Gabriel Davis – UCF

Davis is the leading returning receiver for the Knights in 2019. Last season he caught 53 passes for 815 yards and 7 touchdowns. The 6’3″ Davis has an outstanding combination of size and quickness and can make that clutch catch in crunch time.

7. Reggie Roberson – SMU

Roberson had a big season in 2018, catching 52 passes for 802 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also added a kick return for a touchdown and averaged 41.2 yards per kickoff return. With Texas transfer Shane Buechele at QB, it should mean another big season for Roberson.

8. Jalen McCleskey – Tulane

McCleskey, an Oklahoma State graduate transfer, was a big pickup for the Green Wave. In his time at Oklahoma State, he caught 167 passes for 1,865 yards and 17 touchdowns averaging 11.2 YPC. McCleskey & Mooney will combine for one of the best WR duos in the AAC.

9. Keith Corbin – Houston

Corbin was a touchdown machine last season. 25% of his catches went for touchdowns. He hauled in 40 passes for 691 yards and 10 touchdowns. With D’eriq King back in 2019, you can expect Corbin to have another big season.

10. Branden Mack – Temple

Mack is the leading returning receiver for the Owls in 2019. Last season the talented wideout caught 44 passes for 601 yards and 5 touchdowns averaging 13.7 YPC. With QB Anthony Russo a QB on the rise, Russo to Mack is something you’ll hear a lot for Temple in 2019.
