Week 1 Saturday DFS Cheatsheet – DraftKings $200k Contest

We have done the DFS homework for you, and here are is our breakdown for Saturday’s slate of games in college football. This is my preview for the DraftKings $200K Saturday Return contest. A $15 entry gets you in the contest which pays out $50,000 to 1st place. We are using DraftKings numbers, so you have $50,000 to pick 8 players ($6,250 AVG).

Quarterbacks

Top Plays

  • Dillon Gabriel (Oklahoma) $9,200
  • Dorian Thompson-Robinson (UCLA) $9,000
  • Taulia Tagovailoa (Maryland) $8,700
  • Haynes King (Texas A&M) $8,500

All of these QBs have great match-ups. They should all have a floor of 20 points.

Best Value & Longshots

  • Clayton Tune (Houston) $7,900
  • Devin Leary (NCSU) $7,500
  • Frank Harris (UTSA) $7,300
  • Drake Maye (UNC) $7,100
  • Chase Brice (App St) $6,900
  • Phil Jurkovec (Boston College) $6,300

I could see Houston and UTSA getting into a shootout, which means Clayton Tune & Frank Harris could be great plays. Devin Leary has a sneaky tough match-up vs ECU, but could still get you 225 Passing yards and 2 TDs. Drake Maye and Chase Brice face off vs each other. Maye and the UNC Offense showed potential vs FAMU and the Tar Heels’ defense looks bad again, which means the Heels and Maye will need to be productive on offense. Last week, FAMU QB Jeremy Moussa picked the Tar Heels’ defense apart, and I could see Chase Brice doing the same this week. Phil Jurkovec at $6,300 isn’t a great play, but if you need a viable cheap flyer this week, that’s your play.

Avoid

Stetson Bennett (Georgia) $9,400

There is no way I’m paying $9,400 for Bennett. He’s the most expensive QB on the slate and he goes up against an Oregon defense that has potential. Stay away from Bennett!!!

Running Backs

Top Plays

  • Zach Charbonnet (UCLA) $7,900
  • Zach Evans (Ole Miss) $7,800
  • Devon Achane (Texas A&M) $7,600
  • Blake Corum (Michigan) $7,000

Charbonnet, Achane, and Corum have great match-ups, and you can’t go wrong with any of those plays. Evans has a sneaky tough match-up vs a Troy defense that I actually like. Troy has playmakers like DT Will Choloh, EDGE Javon Solomon, LB Carlton Martial, and Safety Dell Pettus. Obviously, Evans is such a great talent he could go off and still get you fantasy points vs anyone but be cautious of this Trojans D.

Best Value & Longshots

  • Christopher Brooks (BYU) $6,100
  • Jordan Houston (NCSU) $6,000
  • Donovan Edwards (Michigan) $5,000
  • Camerun Peoples (App St) $4,900

Brooks is one of the most underrated RBs in CFB this season as he transfers into BYU from CAL. He has a good match-up vs USF, and I plan on having him in all of my lineups this week. Houston has a tough match-up vs ECU, but he’s now the RB1 for NC State. I could see him getting you 15 Fantasy Points, which is good value for the price. Camerun Peoples is one of the top RBs in the Sun Belt, and for $4,900 all you need is 60 yards and a TD or 120 total yards to make this a productive play. I love Edwards at 5K. I believe Michigan gets a big lead and Edwards could get 12-20 touches.

Top Plays

  • Josh Downs (UNC) $8,200
  • Nathaniel Dell (Houston) $7,800
  • Marvin Mims (Oklahoma) $7,700
  • Zakhari Franklin (UTSA) $7,500

Downs is the top offensive weapon for the Tar Heels, and he will get plenty of opportunities. I don’t like paying $8,200 for him this week, but if you want him in your lineup, he should produce. Dell is the top WR on what will be a high powered Houston Offense. I love this play. Mims has a great match-up vs UTEP, and I expect him to catch a TD in the first half. If the Sooners get a big lead, he might not be needed in the 2nd Half. Franklin is the WR1 for UTEP, and he will get plenty of opportunities vs UH. This is a great play.

Best Value & Longshots

  • Jonathan Mingo (Ole Miss) $7,000
  • Dontay Demus Jr (Maryland) $6,800
  • Zay Flowers (Boston College) $6,300
  • Rakim Jarrett (Maryland) $5,900
  • Puka Nacua (BYU) $5,900
  • Jake Bobo (UCLA) $5,000
  • Evan Stewart (Texas A&M) $4,800
  • Michael Trigg (Ole Miss) $4,600
  • Jacob Copeland (Maryland) $4,200
  • Trent Pennix (NCSU) $3,500
  • Arik Gilbert (Georgia) $3,200

The Maryland Trio are all undervalued and excellent plays. Obviously, we don’t know which one will go off, but vs Buffalo, there’s a possibility that two of them could have big games. Copeland is the obvious steal at $4,200, and Jarrett at $5,900 is a crime. Jake Bobo is a good contrarian play this week. He’s a transfer from Duke who should be a top target for DTR. Evan Stewart at $4,800 is a steal. He’s a true freshman with a lot of upside. I expect him to get plenty of opportunities vs FCS Sam Houston. Trent Pennix at $3,500 could win you money this week. He’s a RB/TE hybrid who could easily get you 8-15 points. I have no idea if Arik Gilbert even plays. He has so much going on, but if he does, he’s worth a flyer at $3,200.
