There is a lot of talent in college football that flies under the radar. And that definitely applies to the C-USA. These are the top tight ends in C-USA

1. Joshua Simon – Western Kentucky

Simon is my top TE in C-USA for 2020. In 2019 as a freshman, he caught 30 passes for 430 yards and 4 touchdowns, while averaging 14.3 yards per catch. Simon was a 3-star wide receiver coming out of high school. However, the Hilltoppers have made him into a hybrid TE with WR speed.

2. Xavier Gaines – Marshall

Gaines was a Dual Threat QB recruit who’s now one of the top TEs in CFB. He’s extremely elusive & electrifying for a TE. In his career he’s caught 40 passes for 519 yards & 4 TDs averaging 13 yards per catch.

3. Sterling Palmer – FIU

Palmer is a 6’6″ superb athlete at tight end. He has good leaping ability, he high points the ball, and he has speed to outrun defenders. In his career, he’s caught 48 passes for 484 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Palmer has NFL potential.

4. Hayden Pittman – UAB

Pittman is a big reason why the Blazers have been successful the past few seasons. He does it all. He is a monster in the blocking game. And he also excels at receiving. In his career, he has 38 receptions for 351 yards, and 4 touchdowns.

5. Jason Pirtle – North Texas

Pirtle is a proven and reliable target. In his career, he’s caught 22 passes for 330 yards and 5 touchdowns, averaging 15 yards per catch.

6. Gavin Sharp – UTSA

Sharp has 27 receptions in his career for 188 yards and 1 TD. He’s a former 2-star recruit who’s already exceeding exceptions.

Overall, the C-USA has three elite receiving tight ends (Simon, Gaines, Palmer). All three are extraordinary athletes who transitioned from QB or wide receiver to play tight end.
