Remember way back in March of 2016? Things were vastly different than they are now. Donald Trump was President, gas was around $2.50/gallon, and the New England Patriots played in the most recent Super Bowl. Quite the different world. It was also the last time that Marquette G Markus Howard had missed a FT.
Until Wednesday night. Howard’s streak came to an end, as he went all Shaq, clanking a FT. That snapped a streak of 66 straight free throws made, one of the longest streaks in NCAA history (Butler’s Darnell Archy has the record of 85). And while after that missed free throw his career is now clearly on the down slope, Howard is still one of better scorers in the country. His 21.5 pts/gm puts him in the top 20 in the nation.
Howard is only a sophomore, so the 5’11” spark plug still has time in school to develop his game even more. Here are his highlights from when he dropped 52(!) points earlier this year, tying the Big East record:
PS- His brother Jordan plays for Central Arkansas and is 5th in the country in scoring. What a family!
