In a move that surprised only people that have been living on the sun for the past 6 months, super Freshman G Malik Monk joined his fellow Kentucky teammate De’Aaron Fox in declaring for the NBA draft.
Monk was a talented, do-it-all Freshman that averaged 19.8 ppg for the Wildcats, as he was named the SEC Player of the Year. In a season full of highlights, Monk’s highest moment game when he dropped 47 points on eventual National Champs North Carolina. The Tar Heels would get the last laugh vs Kentucky in the Elite Eight, despite Monk’s heroics, as he tied the game with a clutch three with only seconds left.
Most scouts have the 6’3″, 200 lb guard as a high lottery pick in June’s NBA draft, possibly as high as Top 5. That means the Wildcats will have big shoes to fill. But given their track record on constantly getting 5-star recruits, something tells us that they’ll merely just reload on their way to another deep March run.
