Five Star SF Louis King commits to Oregon

Things continue to trend upward for head coach Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team, as they received a commitment from one of the top players in the 2018 class, Louis King. The five star small forward is a top 20 overall player in the 2018 recruiting class and top 5 at his position. He chose Oregon over Kansas, NC State, Purdue, and Seton Hall, as these were the schools that rounded out his top five. King is the second commitment for the Ducks in the 2018 class, as they already have high four star PF Miles Norris in the fold. 2018 is shaping up to be a top notch recruiting class for Oregon.

There are very few weaknesses in King’s game, as he looks like an NBA player when he takes the court. While he may stay at least two years, he could definitely end up being one and done. While he is 6’8″ with a 7 foot wingspan, he still holds a solid amount of weight for a kid with that kind of height, allowing him to stand his ground under the rim. He needs to work on his mid-range jumper a little bit, but his three point shot is pretty when he’s open. He simply needs to take those open shots more often, instead of defaulting to taking the ball to the rim. Against tougher competition in the Pac 12, teams will certainly learn how to defend that quickly. But knocking down open jumpers is easily remedied, especially for someone with his superior skill set and athleticism. Expect for him to break the starting lineup as soon as he steps on campus, as Oregon will certainly want the ball in King’s hands.
