College Football Week 2 Predictions

It’s time for Week 2 in college football. And it’s time for predictions. This will be the first weekend of P5 football. Lots of good football and interesting match-ups. And be sure to check out the ATS picks (2-1 YTD) at the end.

Thursday Night CFB

Miami 34 UAB 17

The UAB defense didn’t look impressive vs Central Arkansas. While they’re definitely better than they played, Hurricanes QB D’eriq King, TE Brevin Jordan, and the Canes offense will be too much to control.

Saturday

West Virginia 52 EKU 7

Marshall just beat EKU 59-0. This should be interesting because the Mountaineers want to win by more than the in-state rival Herd.

(18) UNC 41 Syracuse 17

The Tar Heels offense will be too much for the Orange.

Kansas State 27 Arkansas State 20
Appalachian State 31 Charlotte 21

This is one of the most underrated games in Week 2. Charlotte is an up and coming program under head coach Will Healy. Expect them to cover the 17-point spread.

(23) Iowa State 31 Louisiana 28

I love the team the Ragin Cajuns have. They have two NFL caliber RBs, a good QB, and a player at nose tackle that I really like in Zi’Yon Hill. The Cyclones are led by QB Brock Purdy, RB Breece Hall, TE Charlie Kolar, and DB Greg Eisworth. This game is my #1 game of Week 2.

Army 35 ULM 17

Army was impressive last week. They keep it rolling in Week 2.

(10) Notre Dame 36 Duke 14

This match-up features an elite Defensive Line (Duke) vs an elite Offensive Line (Notre Dame). I’m also interested to see Clemson transfer QB Chase Brice in his 1st start for Duke. Overall though, Notre Dame has too much firepower for the Blue Devils.

Georgia Southern 45 Campbell 14

The Eagles option offense will be too much for the Camels of Campbell.

Florida State 31 Georgia Tech 14

A lot of people think the Yellow Jackets have a chance at an upset. I believe the Noles win easily.

Texas St QB Brady McBride
Texas State 31 UTSA 27

The Bobcats of Texas State looked impressive in a loss vs SMU. QB Brady McBride was a difference maker and gave the offense a spark. Head coach Jake Spavital and the Bobcats get a win over the in-state Roadrunners.

Pittsburgh 41 Austin Peay 7

Pitt has an elite defense, even without DT Jalen Twyman, who opted out of the 2020 season. Expect them to control the clock on offense and make stops of defense. Panthers win easily.

USF 27 The Citadel 24

The Citadel run the option offense and they run it well led by QB Brandon Rainey. Last season they defeated Georgia Tech 27-24 in OT. The Bulls will have their hands full in this game and will need to bring their A game to get the W.

(5) Oklahoma 56 Missouri State 8

If you want to watch a blowout you can watch this game for $54.99 on Pay Per View.

(1) Clemson 45 Wake Forest 10

Led by QB Trevor Lawrence and RB Travis Etienne, the Tigers are locked and loaded and come into 2020 ready to get back to the National Championship game. The Demon Deacons are led by QB Sam Hartman who has impressed me when he plays. In the end though, expect the Tigers to win by five scores.

Tulane 34 South Alabama 27

South Alabama got an upset last Thursday Night over Southern Miss and looked impressive on both sides of the ball. However, this Tulane team led by head coach Willie Fritz is much better than Southern Miss. Expect the Green Wave to win a close one.

Louisville RB Javian Hawkins – (photo courtesy of Sports Illustrated)
Louisville 31 WKU 23

This game is another intriguing match-up. The Hilltoppers are one of the best teams in Conference USA with an impressive defense led by defensive ends DeAngelo Malone and Juwuan Jones and linebacker Kyle Bailey. Louisville has a great offense led by the three-headed monster of QB MiCale Cunningham, RB Javian Hawkins, and WR TuTu Atwell. Overall, this should be a competitive game that the Cards win by a score.

Texas Tech 66 Houston Baptist 21

QB Bailey Zappe and WR Ben Ratzlaff are great players for Houston Baptist, but the Red Raiders have too much firepower.

(14) Texas 52 UTEP 7

The Longhorns should cruise in this one.

Kansas 27 Coastal Carolina 24

The Chanticleers are a sneaky good team and defeated the Jayhawks last season, but expect RB Pooka Williams to lead the Jayhawks to victory.

Baylor 34 LA Tech 24
