There are only 41 days until the return of college football. To celebrate we remember last year’s Arizona vs. Arizona State match-up. Arizona State overcame a 19 point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat their rival 41-40. Although this rivalry may not be considered one of the most heated in all of college football, it is definitely one of the oldest. Their first match-up was in 1899 where Arizona State won with the impossible score of 11-2.
The first 3 quarters were all Wildcats, while the Sun Devils did just enough to hang on. Then in the 4th quarter ASU was able to take over. After creating a few turnovers and scoring on nearly every possession, they found themselves with the lead 41-40. Arizona had one last chance with under a minute left. However, the kicker was unable to make the 45 yard field goal attempt. This particular game had 921 yards of total offense and 46 total first downs. We can’t wait to see what this match-up brings this upcoming season. Check back tomorrow to see what is next on the Countdown to College Football!
