4-Star RB Giles Jackson commits to Michigan

It hasn’t even been 24 hours and Michigan has already received more good news. 4-star DE Mike Morris announced his flip from FSU to Michigan just yesterday. Now, the good news comes on the offensive side of the ball. The nation’s #5 all purpose-back in the 2019 class, Giles Jackson, announces his commitment to the Wolverines. Michigan already possesses the #10 class in the nation and the #1 class in the B1G. So Giles’ commitment only adds to their already stellar class. This further proves that talent wants to play with talent.

Giles Jackson chose the Maize and Blue over his other finalists USC, Oregon, and Oregon State. Jackson also boasted offers from Florida, Cal, and others. Originally Jackson was expected to make his decision on his mother’s birthday, August 24th. However, the California native tweeted on August 20 that he wanted to take his time and that he would extend his decision timeline. It didn’t take much longer than initially anticipated because Giles is now a Wolverine.

Commitment Analysis

Michigan is getting one of the most elusive playmakers in the 2019 recruiting class in Jackson. The small running back stands at just 5’8″ and 175 pounds but is lightening fast. Coach Harbaugh plans on using his athletic ability all over the field, as Michigan recruited him as an athlete. The fact that he could see the field as a WR or as a RB increases his chances to see the field early. I would not be surprised to see him get some looks as a kick/punt returner as soon as he steps on campus.

Jackson was consistently a standout performer in the summer camp circuit. His name popped up on multiple occasions when speaking about the top performers at various 7v7 events and The Opening finals. Jackson is so athletic that he is a leader on both offense and defense for his high school team. Luckily for Michigan, Giles Jackson will be playing his college ball in The Big House.
