There are 30 days until college football returns. Today we remember Washington Huskies K Chuck Nelson’s NCAA record of 30 consecutive field goals made.
Chuck Nelson played for the University of Washington from 1979-1982. The Seattle native stayed at home and played for the hometown Huskies. During the 1981-1982 seasons, Nelson set the NCAA record with 30 straight FGs made, which still stands to this day. In 1982 as a senior, he was named the Most Valuable Player for the Huskies squad. He was also a unanimous first team All-American that same year. In 1983, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the 4th round of the NFL Draft
Nelson would go down as one of the best kicker’s in Washington and Pac 12 (then Pac 10) history. In 1998, he was inducted into the UW Hall of Fame.
