If you play Daily Fantasy, then you’ll want to pay attention to this article. I play DraftKings and prefer that over any other DFS outlets out there. Here’s some helpful tips for college football on Saturday. Remember you have $50,000 to pick 8 players ($6,250 AVG).
Saturday 9/21 12:00-4:00 PM
Quarterbacks
Best Plays
• Tua Tagovailoa $8,700 vs Southern Miss
Tua will cost you more money than any other QB, but he’s put up 103.9 Fanstay Points so far this season. If you want a guaranteed 20-30 points, go with Tagovailoa.
• Joe Burrow $8,500 vs Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt allowed 509 Passing yards and 5 TDs week 2 vs Purdue. While LSU can rely on their rushing attack more than the Boilermakers, expect Burrow to have at least 20 fantsy points.
• Dillon Gabriel $7,000 vs Pitt
Pitt hasn’t been too bad vs the pass, only allowing 2 passing TDs this season. However, you’re getting good value with Gabriel and the high-powered UCF offense.
Under the Radar Plays
• James Blackman $6,500 vs Louisville
Blackman threw for 254 yards and 3 TDs vs a good Virginia defense last week. I like the value you get with Blackman, which will help you get higher ranked RBs/WRs.
• Ryan Hilinski $6,300 vs Missouri
Hilinski has looked really good for a true freshman. Last week vs Alabama, he threw for 324 yards and 2 TDs. Against Missouri, expect at least 200 yards and 1-2 TDs.
• Jack Abraham $5,600 vs Alabama
Abraham is one of the most underrated QBs in all of college football. Last season he threw for 2,347 yards and just last week he threw for 463 yards and 2 TDs. Abraham is one of the cheapest starting QBs on DraftKings this week, and you have to imagine the Golden Eagles will be trailing and needing to pass a ton. It also helps that he has excellent receivers.
Running Backs
Best Plays
• Cam Akers $7,800 vs Louisville
Akers has been outstanding this season with 91 fantasy points. Expect 20-30 points for him vs Louisville.
• Najee Harris $7,100 vs Southern Miss
Harris is averaging 16.5 Fantasy PPG. He’s a safe bet for 15-25 points this week.
Under the Radar Plays
• Greg McCrae $6,100 vs Pitt
McCrae has 48.5 Fantasy points this season. Pitt gave up 109 rushing yards to Penn St RB Journey Brown on just 10 rushes last week.
• Clyde Edwards-Helaire $6,100 vs Vanderbilt
Edwards-Helaire has 4 rushing TDs this season, and Vanderbilt gave up 147 rushing yards to D’Andre Swift Week 1.
• Christopher Brown Jr $5,800 vs Ole Miss
• Brian Robinson Jr $4,600 vs Southern Miss
Robinson has been outstanding for the Crimson Tide in 2019. He has a good chance to to get a touchdown, and his price value will allow you to take a higher rated QB or WR.
Be Cautious Of
• Jonathan Taylor $8,900 vs Michigan
Taylor is one of the best RBs in college football, but sometimes in DFS that can be an Achilles heel. You always have to pay the maximum for Taylor. However, this week he’s going up against a solid Wolverines defense. He isn’t worth the price.
• Zach Charbonnet $6,200 vs Wisconsin
Charbonnet is set at the average price, but I don’t like his match-up vs the Badgers defense.
Wide Receivers/Tight Ends
Best Plays
• Jerry Jeudy $8,300 vs Southern Miss
Jeudy is the best route runner in college football and the #1 target for Tua Tagovailoa. He has an outstanding 84 fantasy points in three games.
• Justin Jefferson $7,600 vs Vanderbilt
The Purdue passing attack & Rondale Moore torched the Commodores secondary. Jefferson should be a safe bet for at least 1 TD.
Under the Radar/Good Value Plays
Alabama WRs
- Henry Ruggs III $6,500
- Devonta Smith $ 6,100
- Jaylen Waddle $4,800
There’s excellent value with all of these receivers. If you have one open spot in your lineup and the money’s right, select one of these three. Last week Smith had 2 touchdown and Ruggs had one.
• Quez Watkins $4,800 vs Alabama
Last week, Watkins had 7 receptions for 209 yards and 2 TDs. You have to imagine Southern Miss getting down early and throwing quite often.
• Maurice Ffrench $5,800 vs UCF
Ffrench is a reliable receiver who has 56 fantasy points this season. You get the #1 WR for Pitt, who could be trailing in this one, for a good price.
• Kyle Pitts $3,800 vs Tennessee
Pitts is a tight end who I projected to have a breakout season in 2019. He has 9 catches for 99 yards this season. For this price on DFS, you just need him to get in the end zone once for a big payback.
My Line-up:
- QB – James Blackman $6,500 vs UL
- RB – Cam Akers $7,800 vs UL
- RB – Najee Harris $7,100 vs USM
- WR – Chadarius Atwell $4,400 vs FSU
- WR – Maurice Ffrench $5,800 vs UCF
- WR – Quez Watkins $4,800 vs Bama
- Flex – WR Henry Ruggs III $6,500 vs USM
- Super Flex – QB Dillon Gabriel $7,000 vs Pitt
