With offenses taking off each year and passing games skyrocketing, it’s almost imperative that you have playmakers in the secondary. These are players that can be game-changers on the back end. Here are the Top 15 DBs in the ACC in 2019.
1. Bryce Hall – UVA
2018 Stats: 62 tackles, 2 sacks, 3.5 tackles for loss, 22 pass breakups, and 2 INTs. Hall, a former 2⭐ recruit, has developed and progressed into an elite cover corner. He is one of, if not the, best DBs in the country. Love his physicality, size, and awareness.
2. Andre Cisco – Syracuse
Cisco had a huge season in 2018 as a freshman. He had 60 tackles, 1 TFL, 11 pass breakups, and 7 interceptions. What a way to start your career.
3. AJ Terrell – Clemson
2018 Stats: 53 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 7 pass breakups, and 3 INTs. Terrell had a big pick six vs Alabama in the National Championship game last season. He was excellent in coverage and got better and better as the season went on.
4. Damar Hamlin – Pitt
Hamlin is the leading returning tackler for the Panthers in 2019. Last season he had 90 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 4 pass breakups, and 2 INTs 🔒🔒🔒. Hamlin was great last season. Expect another big year in 2019.
5. Essang Bassey – Wake Forest
Bassey is one of the best CBs and one of the most underrated players in CFB. Last season he had 74 tackles, 1 sack, 2.5 tackles for loss, 15 pass breakups, and 1 INT.
6. Stanford Samuels – Florida State
Last season Samuels had 58 tackles, 1 TFL, 4 pass breakups, and 4 INTs. Samuels is only a junior and has a ton of upside. Expect him to be even better in 2019.
7. Reggie Floyd – Virginia Tech
2018 Stats: 88 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 1 PBU, 2 INTs, and 6 QB Hits. Floyd is the leader of the lunch pail defense, and the only starting senior for the Hokies on the defensive side of the ball.
8. Mark Gilbert – Duke
Gilbert missed most of the 2018 season due to injury. In 2017, he had 35 tackles, 3 TFL, and 6 INTs. When healthy, Gilbert is one of the best coverage DBs in college football.
9. Trajan Bandy – Miami
2018 Stats: 36 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 8 pass breakups, and 3 INTs. Bandy was excellent for the Canes last season. He proved himself and showed just how much potential he has. Expect another big season from Bandy in 2019.
10. Dane Jackson – Pitt
2018 Stats: 47 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 14 pass breakups. Jackson showed last season that he could go out and make a tackle, and he did well in coverage with 14 pass breakups.
11. Joey Blount – UVA
2018 Stats: 65 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 pass breakups, and 2 INTs. Blount burst onto the scene in 2018 and had an impressive season. Expect him to have an even bigger season. Remember the name!
12. K’Von Wallace – Clemson
As a recruit, Wallace was overlooked by many programs. He was a 3⭐ recruit who Clemson evaluated correctly and developed. Last season, he had 55 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 7 pass breakups, and 1 INT.
13. Jarius Morehead – NC State
Morehead is the leading returning tackler for the Wolfpack in 2019. Last season, the hard hitting safety had 81 tackles, 4 pass breakups, and 3 INTs.
14. Jaiden Lars-Woodbey – FSU
Woodbey had a great season in 2018 as a freshman. Last year, he had 58 tackles, 1 sack, 4.5 tackles for loss, 8 pass breakups, and 3 QB Hits. Woodbey is one of the most athletic safeties in college football.
15. Tanner Muse – Clemson
2018 Stats: 76 tackles, 2 sacks, 2.5 tackles for loss, 5 pass breakups, 2 INTs, and 3 QB hits. Muse is one of the most underrated players in CFB. He’s often overlooked but continues to make big plays.
