It’s been quite the tumultuous season, followed by quite the tumultuous off-season for Florida State and #NoleNation. It all went south in the first game of the year, when the Seminoles lost their starting QB Deodre Francois for the season. It was all downhill after that. The Seminoles stumbled to a 5-6 record that threatened their 35 year streak of appearing in a postseason bowl game. After a victory in their make-up game against ULM, their 6-6 record was enough to get them into the Independence Bowl vs Southern Miss. However, even that was called into question by a Reddit user.
And that doesn’t even mention losing head coach Jimbo Fisher to Texas A&M. However, Florida State was able to hire former Oregon head coach Willie Taggart, and he began to right the ship. First, he kept longtime beloved Seminoles coach Odell Haggins, a popular move with Noles players and fans. All Haggins did was go out and lead the Seminoles to a 42-13 victory over Southern Miss in their bowl game. In his postgame speech, Haggins thanked coaches from the past and the players as well. The speech endeared the already loveable Haggins that much more to #NoleNation:

Now, there are rumors that HC Taggart is trying to woo a Seminole legend from the past to join his coaching staff: Deion “Prime Time” Sanders. Would Neon Deion really consider leaving his gig at the NFL Network for the grind that is college football coaching? Tough to say. However, he didn’t say it was a no in the interview, so there might be hope for Seminole fans. While it’s doubtful he would be a grinder out on the recruiting trail, his name alone would possibly be enough to sway some recruits. Either way, at the end of a disastrous season, things are looking up all around for #NoleNation.
