John Calipari landed his next point guard. Four-star point guard Nolan Hickman has committed to Kentucky. He chose the Wildcats over Kansas, Arizona, UCLA, and many others. This is John Calipari’s first commitment for his 2021 class.
Nolan Hickman is a 6’2″ guard from Mount Pleasant, Utah. He has good size for the point guard position. He is a very good shooter and solid defender. Kentucky was in desperate need of some good news. In a span of a week, Kentucky lost top assistant coach Kenny Payne to the New York Knicks. Then their top point guard target in the class, Kennedy Chandler, committed to Tennessee. And to top it off, their top target in the class, Paolo Banchero, surprised everyone and committed to Duke. Many believed Kansas was the team to beat for Hickman. Kentucky was never really mentioned in recruiting him until a day before his commitment. Then the buzz started rolling in fast. He made it official and committed to Wildcats.
Landing Hickman is a great start to Kentucky’s recruiting class. He stated in an interview with Kyle Tucker, he will continue to recruit Duke commit Paolo Banchero to Kentucky. He and Banchero are best friends. The two have a very strong relationship. The Wildcats are the team to beat for 4-star Bryce Hopkins, who should commit in the coming days. Expect Kentucky to add three or four more players to this recruiting class. Really good start for John Calipari on the recruiting trail.
