John Calipari is on a recruiting tear right now. Four star forward, Bryce Hopkins, has committed to Kentucky. He chose the Wildcats over offers from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and many others. Hopkins is a member of the 2021 recruiting class.

Bryce Hopkins is a 6’7″ forward from Oak Park, Illinois. He is a versatile athlete who is tremendous scorer. He can play at both the three or four position. Hopkins had originally committed to Louisville on November 10, 2019. All signs pointed that Hopkins will likely stick with his commitment. A lot changed during the months of his commitment. With Louisville potentially getting hit hard by the NCAA, he decided it would be best to reopen his recruitment. Once reopening his recruitment, many schools contacted him. He told me that Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa State, Providence, and Oregon were the schools prioritizing him the most. Many believed if Kentucky offered him, He would be a Wildcat. Kentucky and Illinois were the two schools getting most of the buzz. Some believed Illinois would be the choice. But days before his commitment, Kentucky was receiving all the buzz once he stepped back to look at all his options. Today, he made it official and committed to Kentucky.

Hopkins is just the second commitment for Kentucky’s 2021 recruiting class. He will join four star point guard Nolan Hickman. This is just the start of which could be another REALLY good recruiting class for John Calipari. I expect at least two more commitments before it is all said and done. A grad transfer is a possibility as well. It is shaping up to be a solid class for John Calipari so far.
