One of the nation’s top players, De’Gabriel Floyd, announced that he will be trimming his list of top schools very soon, and many are eagerly waiting to see if they make the cut. Coming out of Westlake, CA, De’Gabriel is one of the top players in all of California and is projected as one of the top linebackers in the 2019 class. We had the privilege to watch him compete at The Opening Regionals up in Oakland last year. Even as a junior, he was one of the best players on the field. Running backs had no chance, as none of them could get by him in the one on one drills.
Dropping list of top schools REAL soon…..💯

Floyd will be an immediate asset to any team that is able to sign him. Every coaching staff is waiting to see if they are lucky enough to have their hat on the table come decision day. Here is a break down of schools that have the best shot of making the cut.
USC
Floyd was once committed to the Trojans from April to mid-December of last year, and one has to think that they still have a horse in this race. USC is close to home and could be a great fit for an athlete such as Floyd. The biggest knock on USC is the fact that they have been bringing in top notch linebacker recruits the past two classes and, like all great players, De’Gabriel wants to see the field right away. With that being said, he would still have a great shot at seeing some early PT here.
UCLA
At this point in the process, it seems that UCLA might actually have a better shot at landing De’Gabriel than their cross-town rival Trojans. UCLA has done a great job building a relationship with the Westlake product. Since hiring Don Pellum as their linebackers coach, it has really given Floyd a newfound interest in the Bruins. When Pellum was the ‘backer coach at Oregon, he used to visit the talented linebacker, and the relationship has continued to develop.
Texas
The Longhorns offered Floyd earlier this month, and they did not waste any time on getting him down for a visit. He will be taking one of his biggest unofficial visits yet down to Austin on the weekend of the 17th for their Junior day. The fact that he is making his way down there this soon after being offered by the prestigious program has to be a good sign for them.
Auburn
Auburn is another school that has recently offered the 5-star. They are hoping for a visit from him really soon as well. As of right now, he doesn’t have anything scheduled. However, he has expressed interest in making his way down to visit the Tigers. He loves the fact that they are a contender in the Nation’s top conference – the SEC. Linebackers coach, Travis Williams, has shown Floyd how they plan on using him in their scheme, and this has him excited. It’s also a good sign for the Tigers that Floyd said he wanted to visit them within a day of announcing that he will be trimming his list.
Right now it seems that these four schools have the best shot at landing a spot in Floyd’s top schools once the list is released. Keep an eye out for Oregon and TCU here as well, as he has stated that those two schools were also recruiting him very hard. Fans of these schools can’t wait to see where this game-changing 5-star ends up.
