Elite wide receiver prospect, Devonta Lee, announced his Top 12 schools this week. The list of schools consisted of the following juggernauts: Miami, Auburn, TAMU, FSU, OSU, Arkansas, Florida, Alabama, UGA, Texas, Tennessee, and LSU. Devonta is a 4-star prospect in the 2019 class and considered a Top 10 receiver in the nation. He is also a Top 100 player in the nation and Top 5 in the state of Louisiana.

Although Lee is currently ranked as a Top 100 recruit, he still might be underrated. Standing at 6’2″ and around 210 pounds, Devonta has the strength to take on almost any DB that stands in front of him. His speed is nothing to scoff at either. He has been clocked at a 4.4 40-yard dash. This makes Devonta one of the fastest receivers in the nation. Lee is able to easily find himself in open space down the field. Also, Devonta happens to be a great route runner, so he will find himself open all over the field. We expect for him to see the field as a freshman no matter where he ends up.
Devonta Lee’s list does consist of a full 12 schools, but it seems that this is becoming another Alabama-LSU heavyweight match. LSU has had recent success keeping their talent in-state. The Tigers signed more than half of the Top 10 prospects in the state last year, and they aren’t looking to stop anytime soon. LSU has done a great job in building a relationship with Lee. These relationships might be just enough to keep the talented receiver home.
However, you have to watch out for Alabama in this recruitment. The Crimson Tide have been bringing elite wide receivers in and letting them shine early. The most recent one would be Jerry Jeudy. Jeudy had one of the most clutch catches of his career, with a 20 yard bomb late in the National Championship game of last year. This has to have caught the eye of Devonta, as he and Jeudy are similar in a lot of ways. Ultimately, we think he ends up in Tuscaloosa.
