College Football Week 8 Predictions

It’s time for Week 8 in college football. And it’s time for predictions. Lots of good football and interesting match-ups. Be sure to check out the ATS picks at the end.

Top 25

Wisconsin 20 (25) Purdue 16

Purdue got a HUGE win vs #2 Iowa last week and they’ll be a trendy pick here as a 3 point underdog. Wisconsin has the better team overall, and I expect them to win a close one.

(24) UTSA 34 Louisiana Tech 24

This game could be higher scoring than I’m predicting, as both teams have good offenses. Last week. the La Tech offense had its worst outing of the season. But expect them to get back on track offensively this week. UTSA has been a remarkable story this season and they have an elite QB/RB/WR trio. Give me the Roadrunners by 10.

(23) Pittsburgh 24 Clemson 20

Pitt has looked spectacular on offense this season led by QB Kenny Pickett. This will be the toughest match-up yet for the Pitt offense going up against the Clemson defense. On offense Clemson hasn’t looked good at all, as the O-Line plus DJ Uiagalelei have struggled. Expect this game to be close, but the Panthers get the win in the end.

Air Force 20 (22) San Diego State 13

Expect this to be an ugly, low scoring game. San Diego State and Air Force both like to establish the run and both struggle passing.

(21) SMU 42 Tulane 31

This game could be high scoring with two good QBs in Tanner Mordecai and Michael Pratt. SMU has the better team and I expect them to stay undefeated.

(18) NC State 27 Miami 20

Miami played extremely tough last week vs UNC and I like the potential I see in Jaylan Knighton at RB and Tyler Van Dyke at QB. The problem for the Canes is they’re once again facing an opponent that’s simply better. Expect Devin Leary and the Wolfpack to win by a TD.

(17) Texas A&M 31 South Carolina 7

South Carolina is 4-3, but this is a team who could possibly lose out and finish 4-8. Texas A&M has too much firepower on defense and in the rushing attack for South Carolina to win this game. Aggies BIG!

Army 24 (16) Wake Forest 21

I’m going with the upset in this one, and it hurts to do this because I really really really like Wake Forest. Army is a tough, hard nosed team and the option can really cause fits for teams. The public is all over Wake Forest. So if you’re betting, take Army + 3.

(13) Notre Dame 35 USC 24

The Irish have the better team, the more stable team, and the better team chemistry. Expect the Irish to win by double digits.

(12) Ole Miss 42 LSU 31

(This prediction is with Corral). If Rebs QB Matt Corral plays, expect Ole Miss to win. If Corral doesn’t play, LSU could get the win.

UCLA 31 (10) Oregon 24

Oregon hasn’t impressed me since the win vs Ohio State. They lost to Stanford and didn’t look all that impressive vs California. The Ducks could have a tough time containing Bruins QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson. I like the Bruins to get the win.

Iowa State 27 (8) Oklahoma State 17

I’m still in the camp of Oklahoma State is good but not #8 good. The Cowboys are not a Top 10 team. I like Brock Purdy and Breece Hall in this one to lead the Cyclones to a big win over the Cowboys.

(7) Penn State 38 Illinois 7

With Clifford at QB, Penn State could win by more. But right now, we’re not sure if he’s playing. Expect PSU to dominate on defense either way.

(6) Michigan 31 Northwestern 14

Michigan has a big match-up next week vs Michigan State. As long as they don’t look ahead, they should handle Northwestern.

(5) Ohio State 42 Indiana 17

Indiana has been extremely disappointing this season and now they’re playing without their starting QB. At the beginning of the season, I thought this would be a competitive game, but now I believe it’s a Buckeyes blowout.

(4) Alabama 42 Tennessee 17

The Vols have looked impressive on offense under QB Hendon Hooker, but he was injured last week and I’m not sure his availability for this game. If Hendon Hooker plays, this game could be slightly closer.  but Alabama wins by 17+ either way.

(3) Oklahoma 56 Kansas 10

The Caleb Williams Era is here and it’s off to a scorching start. Williams has thrown for 600 yards 6 TDs and has 3 rushing TDs. Poor, poor Kansas. This could get very ugly.

(2) Cincinnati 38 Navy 14

You can never overlook Navy or any option team for that matter because the system is so unique and it takes discipline and team work on defense to stop it. Luckily for Cincinnati, they have discipline, the athletes, and the chemistry to shut it down. Give me the Bearcats by three TDs.
