College football is finally here! And it’s time for Week 0 in college football. And it’s time for predictions. Lots of good football and interesting match-ups. Be sure to check out the free ATS picks at the end.
Nebraska 27 Illinois 17
This is a MUST win for Scott Frost. Starting off the season with a loss vs Illinois would be a disaster. The Cornhuskers win and cover the spread.
Fresno State 42 UConn 21
Fresno State could contend for the Mountain West Championship this season. They have a legit QB in former Washington Huskies transfer Jake Haener. At RB they have Ronnie Rivers who’s an APB and one of the best in CFB. UConn hasn’t played a game since 2019, and while they return some quality players, they’re overmatched and quite rusty.
UCLA 42 Hawaii 26
The Bruins are a dark horse in the PAC 12 South this year. They’re capable of getting some big wins if teams overlook them. Don’t expect UCLA to show off everything they have this week because they play LSU next week. Hawaii is a middle of the road Mountain West team, but they could have a potent offense. Expect the Rainbow Warriors to lose this game but cover the spread.
UTEP 35 New Mexico State 27
UTEP has 9 wins the last five seasons and they’re favored by 10. That is strange territory for the Miners, but they’re the better team. New Mexico State was horrible this spring. They lost to Tarleton State and barely beat Dixie State, two teams that just moved up from DII. Expect the Miners to win this game, but NMSU will cover the spread.
