On this CherryPickin podcast episode, Andre recaps Week 12 Temple football action. He’ll also preview the Owls’ upcoming match-up against Cincinnati in Week 13.
The Owls are 7-3 and 4-2 in the conference after the 29 -21 victory over Tulane in Week 12. The 29 points for Temple were the most points this offense has put up on the board since Week 7 when the Owls put up 30 points on the Memphis Tigers. We’ll dive more into the offense later on in the episode.
On the other side of the ball, it is important to note that the Owls’ defense looked dominant this week against a Tulane team that ranked 22nd in the country in total offense coming into match-up.
If we take a look at Cincinnati, the Bearcats enter this match up with Temple with a 6-0 record in conference and a 9-1 record overall. Cincy’s only loss on the season came in Week 2 of the season against Ohio State. In that match-up, the Buckeyes blanked Cincy 42-0. Cincinnati is currently in first place in the American East Standings.
If Temple wins this weekend, they will remain in the hunt for the AAC East crown. If Cincinnati wins, the Bearcats will win the East division title of the AAC outright. The Bearcats are the highest-ranked group of five team in the country. That has them in excellent position to earn a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl.
Kickoff for this meeting is set for Saturday, November 23, at 7:00pm EST and will broadcast on ESPN2.
