Josh Christopher is a Top 10 player in the class of 2020. He is one of the most athletic and best scoring guards in the class. He is down to five schools: Michigan, Arizona State, UCLA, Missouri and Howard. Who lands Christopher? Does he stay home in California and play for UCLA? Does he join his brother at Arizona State? Lets break down this very interesting recruitment.
UCLA
Josh Christopher is from California, and staying at home could be a major factor in his recruitment. Josh has been on campus unofficially a couple times, and the Bruins were seen as the early favorite. Head coach Mick Cronin already has 5-star PG Daishen Nix signed to play for the Bruins next year. Also, one of Christopher’s really good friends, Shareef O’Neal, is already on the roster. I really like the Bruins chances here.
Arizona State
Arizona State has always been seen as one of the main teams in Christopher’s recruitment ever since his older brother Caleb committed to the Sun Devils back in March. Josh has been on campus plenty of times and has stated multiple times about his relationship with Coach Bobby Hurley and the rest of the Arizona State coaching staff. Playing with his brother is a major factor in my eyes. Will it happen? Possibly. Josh recently visited Arizona State.
Michigan
Michigan has gained most of the talk as of late in Christopher’s recruitment. Head coach Juwan Howard has been a man on mission with his 2020 recruiting class, as it ranks #4 nationally. Adding Christopher to this class would be a major get for the Wolverines. Christopher took an official visit to Michigan on November 22nd. Michigan gives Josh a chance to play for a head coach who played in the NBA. The Wolverines are a major player in this recruitment.
Missouri
Missouri has had some trouble landing top talent in this year’s 2020 class. Cam’Ron Fletcher and Josh Christopher were the top two targets for Cuonzo Martin. With Fletcher now heading to Kentucky, that leaves Christopher as the top target. Christopher’s cousin Nicodemus Christopher is the strength and conditioning coach at Missouri. As that could play a factor, I do not see Christopher playing for the Tigers.
Howard
Back in October, 5-stars Josh Christopher and Makur Maker surprised everyone and took official visits to Howard. The two talked about possibly teaming up there. Do I think it will happen? No. However, for Howard to get not just one but two five star recruits to take official visits to the university is very impressive.
In the end, Josh Christopher’s recruitment will come down to three schools. UCLA, Arizona State, and Michigan. These three schools make very strong cases to land Josh but as of right now I expect Juwan Howard to land his second 5-star recruit for the 2020 class.
