Mississippi State received some big news over the weekend, as Alabama native DJ James announced his commitment to the Bulldogs. James is listed as a 3-star prospect and is one of the top defenders in the state of Alabama for the 2019 class. DJ also held offers from Ole Miss, Florida, and was gaining interest from in-state schools Auburn and Alabama. His commitment is a big one for new head coach Joe Moorhead, and brings the Bulldogs up to the 15th class in the nation. Mississippi State hasn’t finished with a top 20 class since 2015, but seems to be on pace to break this trend in 2019.

The 2019 cornerback was so confident that he wanted to attend Mississippi State, that he committed to the Bulldogs the same weekend he was visiting the defending National Champions, Alabama. James plans on visiting LSU next weekend, but we doubt he has a change of heart in regards to his commitment. After having a successful sophomore year, DJ started to receive a lot of interest from big programs so he has already had the opportunity to experience other campuses and build relationships with coaching staffs. Luckily for coach Moorhead, he fell in love with State. The Bulldogs certainly got a steal with this kid.
