There are 85 days before the college football season kicks off. Today we look back at a record breaking day for Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes.
On October 22, 2016, #16 Oklahoma pulled into Lubbock to take on Texas Tech. And the scoreboard would spin all night long. Somehow, Sooner QB Baker Mayfield, who had 545 yds passing and 7 TDs wasn’t the offensive star of the night. That title belonged to Red Raiders’ QB Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes had a video game-esque 734 yds passing and a career best 85 yards rushing (not to mention 7 total touchdowns). Those 85 yards + the 734 yards passing gave him an NCAA single game record 819 total yards.
The #16 Sooners would go on to win 66-59. Hopefully, you took the over.
