There are 62 days until college football returns. Today we look back at Miami’s Stephen Morris’ 62-yard bomb to beat NC State.
When the Hurricanes took on the Wolfpack in 2012, it was a back and forth affair. Every lead Miami built NC State erased. The Canes took a 23-7 lead early, but the Wolfpack would not go away. After NC State tied the game late, Canes QB Stephen Morris took over. On the day, he set the ACC single game record with 566 yards, and had 5 touchdowns as well. With only :32 seconds left, the game tied 37-37, and facing 3rd and long, Miami was facing having to punt the ball back. And with the Wolfpack holding 2 timeouts, things weren’t looking great. However, Morris came to the rescue:
After avoiding the rush, Morris bombed it 62-yards for a touchdown to Phillip Dorsett. That touchdown put Miami up for good, and the Hurricanes won 44-37. It was a career day for Morris, as Miami would not be denied.
