There are 57 days until college football returns. Today we’ll look back at the most famous missed FG in college football history: a 57-yard attempt that started the Kick Six.
In the 2013 Iron Bowl, it appeared that game between Alabama and Auburn was heading for overtime at 28-28. As Alabama RB TJ Yeldon ran out of bounds, time appeared to have expired. However, after a review, the refs determined that :01 should have been on the clock. This allowed the Crimson Tide to set up for a 57-yard GW field goal. Just in case the FG was short, the Tigers put DB Chris Davis back to return the ball. The rest will live in college football lore forever:
PS – “They’re not going to keep them off the field tonight!” Auburn radio announcer Rod Bramblett’s words will echo eternally throughout college football history.
