There are only 28 days until the start of the college football season. To celebrate we honor the incredible career of San Diego State RB, #28 Marshall Faulk. Although Faulk is most known for his NFL career, the greatness began with the Aztecs. In just his second collegiate game ever, Faulk ran the ball 37 times for 386 yards and 7 touchdowns. It may have been against University of the Pacific, but that is impressive no matter how you look at it.
Even though Marshall Faulk left for the NFL after his junior season, he still ran for 4,589 yards and had 57 touchdowns on the ground. He also added 973 receiving yards and 5 receiving touchdowns throughout his career. 644 of those receiving yards came during his junior season, which proved that he was ready to take his talents to the NFL. Unfortunately for Faulk, San Diego State consistently had a middle of the road record throughout his collegiate career so he was never able to snag a Heisman Trophy. However, he did finish 9th, 2nd, and 4th in the voting in each of his seasons. Check back tomorrow to see what is next on the Countdown to College Football!
