There are 25 days until college football returns. Today we remember Tennessee’s Jason Witten’s 25-yard game-winning touchdown vs Arkansas.
In 2002, the #18 Razorbacks headed to Neyland Stadium for an SEC tilt vs the 10th ranked Volunteers. Little did they know they were going to be there for quite a while. At the end of regulation, both teams were tied at 17-17. The teams traded FGs in the 1st & 2nd OTs. Both would go scoreless in the 3rd OT. After that, the teams traded touchdowns in the 4th and 5th OT. Arkansas would take the lead on a FG in the 6th OT. On their first play from scrimmage, Vols QB Casey Clausen hit TE Jason Witten on 25-yard game-winning touchdown. The touchdown sent 105,000+ Vols friends into a frenzy, and left the Razorbacks crestfallen. The catch was Witten’s 3rd of the game, giving him 78 yards and the one touchdown. It’s a game that will long be remembered in Vol Nation.
