Florida State has missed out on a few recruits from Armwood in Seffner, Florida over the past several years. Most notably, the likes of NFL pros Leon McQuay II (USC), RB Matt Jones (UF), were among others that could have contributed in Tallahassee. However, that all changed when 4-star WR Warren Thompson committed to the Seminoles, as it seems that the Noles have finally found their man.

Thompson announced on January 30 that he would be making his final decision between the Gamecocks and FSU, but the writing was on the wall. The talented receiver was committed to Willie Taggart, now the head coach for the Seminoles, while he was still the HC at Oregon. Taggart was smart enough to bring Warren’s primary recruiter for the Ducks, assistant coach Raymond Woodie, on board with him in Tallahassee. Just a week after Taggert and Woodie announced that they were leaving Oregon for the Sunshine State, Thompson announced his decommitment. No coincidence there. As a young kid, Warren talked about how FSU was his dream school, and it just so happened that the coaching staff he had the best relationship with ended up there. It was a match made in heaven.
Florida State is getting a receiver that already possesses the size to be a contributor in their uptempo offense. Just under 6’4 and 205 pounds and with the length to go up and get the ball, he can be a serious deep threat that can really stretch the field. He is the 15th commitment for the Noles in the 2018 class and just the second receiver. D’Marcus Adams, another Florida native, is the other receiver and is also listed as a 4-star recruit.
The Noles have two more Seffner prospects on their recruiting board for 2018. Warren is certainly hoping that his teammates, 4-star DE Malcolm Lamar and LB James Miller join him at the next level. Now that FSU has Thompson in the fold, Florida State now has an even better shot at both.
