One of the top defensive lineman in the nation, Calvin Avery out of TX, announced his top 5 schools on Wednesday. The list consists of TCU, Illinois, USC, Oklahoma, and Colorado. The Lone Star state prospect is absolutely massive and will be able to come in and compete for a some playing time immediately. At this point it seems that Avery could wind up at any of his these schools, as Nebraska which was once considered to be in a good position to land him, but the Cornhuskers were left off of the list.

While Avery possesses the size that you need to plug holes along the defensive line, the big guy is also quick for someone over 300 pounds. He plays the game with a mean streak that is tough to teach and will be bad news for opposing offenses. Big Calvin will absolutely draw some double teams when he plays at the next level, but we aren’t sure if that will be enough to stop this freak. We predict that he could either land at TCU or Oklahoma, as they seem to be closest to home, and they have both done a great job on the recruiting trail in the 2018 class. Avery has completely dominated his competition at the elite Texas high school level and we are excited to see that domination continue in college.
