Prentiss Hubb out of Gonzaga in Washington DC announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish on Wednesday evening. Hubb is a top 5 shooting guard in the nation for the class of 2018. He is the first commitment for Head Coach Mike Brey and Notre Dame, choosing them over Maryland, Villanova, Kansas, Syracuse, and Virginia. Mike Brey seems to have found a pypeline in the DC area as he started his coaching career down the road at Dematha High School.

This situation seems to suit Hubb perfectly as current ND guard Matt Farrell is entering his senior season, and TJ Gibbs will be a Junior once he steps on campus. This will give Hubb the ability to come in and learn Coach Brey’s system without having to be the “man” immediately. This is a huge pickup for the Fighting Irish and will help them continue to be a tough competitor in the ACC.
