Duke G Grayson Allen will return for his senior season. That’s bad news for all Blue Devils opponents that don’t enjoy being tripped.
Allen burst onto the scene during Duke’s championship run during 2015, when he provided the Blue Devils with a shot in the arm during the championship game when he came off the bench and scored 16 points, including some highlight reel dunks. At that point, his NBA draft was probably at its pinnacle.
Since then, Allen has been embroiled in controversy and battled injuries. With F Amile Jefferson and G Matt Jones graduating, and F Jayson Tatum, F Harry Giles, & G Luke Kennard opting for the NBA draft, many wondered if Allen would join them.
Allen said that he believes when something feels right, you go with it (read: his draft stock has plummetted), and that the chance to play with next year’s team felt like the right thing to do (read: he’s going for the NCAA record for most opponents tripped).
Keeping Allen in the fold along with adding top 10 recruits Wendell Carter & Gary Trent Jr will keep Duke inside the Top 10 yet again next year. Great news for Duke fans & bad news for everyone else.
