There are only 89 days left until the start of the 2019 college football season. Today we remember when Washington St QB Connor Halliday’s arm damn near fell off from throwing the ball so many times in one game.
When 4-3 Wazzu traveled to undefeated #2 Oregon in 2013, they were going to have to go all out to win. And that’s exactly what they tried to do. Halliday threw for 557 yds (a Pac 12 record) and 4 TDs on an NCAA record 89 passes. (He also tied the FBS record with 58 completions.) There was just one tiny problem. Halliday was going up against Marcus Mariota. The #2 Ducks blitzed Wazzu 62-38. But give the Cougs credit. If they were going down, they were going down swinging. As a result, Connor Halliday’s name is atop the record books.
