There are 54 days until college football returns. We look back to last year when Ohio St QB Dwayne Haskins and Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray both led the country with 54 total touchdowns.
Buckeyes sophmore QB Dwayne Haskins started 14 games after only playing a handful of snaps his freshman year. However, he took full advantage of that opportunity. Haskins exploded, passing for 4831 yards as well as 50 passing touchdowns. He also added 4 touchdowns and 108 yard on 79 carries. Not very good for a “running quarterback.” Haskins led the Buckeyes to a 13-1 record, including a victory over Washington in the Rose Bowl. He was drafted with the 15th overall pick by the Washington Redskins in this year’s NFL Draft.
Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray had a season for the ages. Not only did he score 54 total touchdowns, but he also won the Heisman trophy. He racked up 4361 yards through the air, including 42 passing touchdowns, to go along with 1001 rushing yards and 12 more touchdowns. He led the Sooners to a 12-2 record, including a berth in the College Football Playoffs. Murray was drafted with the 1st pick in the NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals.
