There are only 42 days until the return of the college football season. To celebrate we honor the team with the most wins of any college football team, the Michigan Wolverines. The Michigan Wolverines not only have a total of 953 wins in school history, they also have a 42 win lead against the next winningest program. The team with the second most wins happens to be arch-rival Ohio State. This proves that this rival has stood the test of time, and has to be in the discussion of “best rivalries” in all of sports.
Although Michigan has a 42 win lead on their rival, the series record is much closer at 58-50-6. The Buckeyes have made some serious ground over the last several years, winning their last 7 match ups. If the Buckeyes win the next 2 times these teams face they will also tie the longest win streak of the series, which is a record that Michigan currently holds. From the 1901 – 1909 seasons Michigan went undefeated against Ohio State, which seemed like a record that would never be broken. These 2 rivals currently hold the 2 highest winning percentages of all time and it seems that isn’t going to change anytime soon. We can’t wait for the 2019 matchup! Check back tomorrow to see what is next on the Countdown to College Football.
