Air raid offenses are taking over the college football game, and it has become common to see teams throw the ball 30-50 times a game. This makes players in the secondary that much more important. These are players that can be game-changers on the back end. Here are the Top 10 DBs in the AAC in 2019.

1. Richie Grant – UCF

Grant is the leading returning tackler for the Knights in 2019. One of the best tackling DBs in #CFB, he had 109 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 pass breakups, and 6 INTs in 2018 🔒🔒🔒🔥🔥🔥

2. TJ Carter – Memphis

Carter was a big time recruit who was a huge pickup for the Tigers. Last season he had 68 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 12 pass breakups, and 2 INTs. He’s excellent in man to man coverage and will be playing on Sundays.

3. James Wiggins – Cincinnati

Wiggins had a huge season in 2018. He was all over the field making plays for the Bearcats. He had 54 tackles, 2 TFL, 5 pass breakups and 4 INTs. Wiggins excels in pass coverage and has good quickness to run with wide receivers.

4. Nevelle Clarke – UCF

2018 Stats: 46 tackles, 1 sack, 4 tackles for loss, 13 pass breakups, and 2 INTs. Clarke was phenomenal last season for the Knights. He’s one of the best CBs in the AAC and all of CFB.

5. Mike Hampton – USF

Hampton is one of the best CBs in CFB. Last season he had 43 tackles, 1 sack, 2 TFL, 16 pass breakups, and 2 INTs. He’s a ball hawk who has excellent awareness.

6. Deontay Anderson – Houston

Anderson, the former 4⭐ and Ole Miss Rebel, had a big season for the Cougars in 2018. Last season he had 72 tackles, 4 TFL, 5 pass breakups, and 1 INT. He’s probably the most gifted safety in the AAC when it comes to overall athleticism.

7. Gleson Sprewell – Houston

Sprewell is the leading returning tackler for the Cougars in 2019. Last season he had 81 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 6 pass breakups, and 3 INTs. He and Deontay Anderson combine for one of the best safety duos in college football.

8. Harrison Hand – Temple

Hand is a transfer from Baylor. In 2017, as a freshman, he had 42 tackles, and 1 INT and showed a lot of potential. I’m expecting a big season in 2019 from Hand as he will be starting at CB for the Owls. Remember the name!!!!!

9. Rodney Clemons – SMU

Clemons is the leading returning tackler at DB in 2019 for the Mustangs. Last season he had 72 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 4 pass breakups, and 1 INT.

10. Nick Roberts – USF

2018 Stats: 72 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 3 pass breakups, and 3 INTs. Roberts was great in 2018 as a freshman. He’s a fast safety who uses his quickness to track down ball carriers and get in position to make a great play in the secondary.
