Seminoles add Top QB Sam Howell to Commitment List

One of the nation’s top QBs, Sam Howell, has announced his commitment to the Florida State Seminoles. Howell is a top 5 QB, an Elite 11 finalist, and one of the best overall players in the 2019 recruiting class. The Monroe, North Carolina native chose the Seminoles over a laundry list of schools. The list included programs such as Oregon, Clemson, Ohio St, and programs all over the nation.

Although it seems to be smooth sailing for Howell right now, that was not always the case. Sam did not receive his first scholarship offer to play college ball until after his sophomore season. With coaches reaching out to blue chip prospects earlier and earlier these days, it is rare for this to happen. Especially with the kind of talent that Howell possesses. But, once the college scouts noticed the dominoes began to fall.

Howell has tremendous vision and is a natural playmaker. He is able to keep his eyes downfield, even when the play seems to be falling apart. Although Sam is listed as a “pro-style” QB, you can’t overlook his athleticism. Howell has incredible pocket presence for a high school baller. When most people hear the term “pro-style,” they automatically think pocket passer. Howell does great while in the pocket, but don’t be surprised if you see him escape from quite a few ACC defensive lineman.

Sam’s commitment brings the Seminoles up to the #10 class in the nation. He is the 6th commitment in the class and the 1st offensive commit. The Noles have done a great job recruiting the defensive side of the ball. Howell’s commitment is sure to ramp things up for their offensive efforts as well. When a talented QB such as Sam commits to a program, it often causes a chain reaction. Talent wants to play with talent, and the QB position is a great place to start. The Seminoles got a good one.
