Five star guard Kennedy Chandler commits to Tennessee

Rick Barnes has been recruiting at a very high level recently. Five star guard, Kennedy Chandler, has committed to Tennessee. He chose the Volunteers over Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, and Memphis. Rick Barnes adds his fourth five star commit in the last three recruiting classes. Chandler is considered the top point guard in the 202 recruiting class respectively.

Kennedy Chandler is an explosive athlete. Even though he is just 6’1, he can get to the rim and rebounds very well for his size. Chandler moved to Kansas to finish his high school basketball career at Sunrise Christian Academy. However, Chandler is originally from Memphis, Tennessee. Many believed Kennedy would either stay home and play his lone season of college basketball at Memphis or commit to his “dream school” Duke. Kentucky had a very good shot to land Chandler as well. Over the past couple of months, his interest in those schools seemed to diminish. The one team that was gaining a lot of steam was the Tennessee Volunteers. Chandler’s relationship with the Tennessee coaching staff is very strong. Assistant coach Kim English spent A LOT of time recruiting Chandler. Today, he made it official and became a Vol.

This is a HUGE commitment for Rick Barnes and his staff. Tennessee is still actively recruiting 2021 five stars Paolo Banchero and Jabari Smith. Kennedy and Paolo have been in “serious talks” about potentially teaming up in college. Landing Chandler only helps the Vols chances with both Paolo and Smith. The things Rick Barnes has done at Tennessee is absolutely amazing. He is winning at a very high level and top recruits are starting to take notice. Tennessee will continue to be one of the top teams in the SEC for years to come.
