College Football Week 6 Predictions

It’s time for Week 6 in college football. And it’s time for predictions. Lots of good football and interesting match-ups. Be sure to check out the ATS picks at the end.

Top 25

(24) Iowa State 41 Texas Tech 27

Texas Tech QB Alan Bowman is day-to-day with an injury and the uncertainty of whether or not he plays has me concerned. Backup QB Henry Colombi is a serviceable player who can sling it, but Bowman is on another level and the Red Raiders need him to win this game.

(22) Texas 42 Oklahoma 34

Nobody would’ve expected the Sooners to be 0-2 in conference play going into the Red River Shootout, but here we are. And I’m predicting them to be 0-3 after the game. This game is a toss up. Both have bad defenses, but I’ll take the senior QB with experience in a toss up game.

(17) LSU 34 Missouri 17

LSU keeps it rolling this week after a blowout win vs Vanderbilt last week.

(15) BYU 49 UTSA 17

The Roadrunners of UTSA are a solid team with a good running back in Sincere McCormick, but the Cougars are on fire right now. QB Zach Wilson is rising up my draft board at QB and he’ll have another big game this week.

(13) Auburn 23 Arkansas 10

Barry Odom has done a great job as defensive coordinator for the Razorbacks, and the Auburn offense and Bo Nix struggled last week vs Georgia. Auburn wins, but it will be low scoring.

(19) Virginia Tech 27 (8) UNC 24

The weather is showing rain for this game and that gives VT an edge with their O-Line, RBs, and Hendon Hooker, if he returns. If it doesn’t rain, VT will be without some key DBs, which could lead to a big game from Sam Howell and the Tar Heels’ passing attack.

(5) Notre Dame 38 Florida State 14

For some reason, Mike Norvell announced his starting QB on Monday. Now the Irish have all week to prepare for Jordan Travis. Expect the Irish defense to create a ton of problems for this Noles offense.

(4) Florida 27 (21) Texas A&M 23

The spread of Florida -6.5 is interesting and most of the $ is on the Gators, which makes me lean towards A&M covering or getting a big upset.

(3) Georgia 24 (14) Tennessee 17

Georgia has an excellent defense and Tennessee has an excellent O-Line. Cade Mays is expected to make his debut for the Vols vs his former team which will be a fun match-up to watch. The Tennessee defense and LB Henry To’oto’o can force a turnover or two to set them up for a score, but ultimately Georgia gets a close W.

(2) Alabama 48 Ole Miss 27

I love what Lane Kiffin has done with this Rebels offense, especially Matt Corral. If the Rebels defense can make some stops, they could make this interesting. However, I don’t see that happening.

(1) Clemson 34 (7) Miami 24

Last week in a win for Clemson the Hoos Offense showed me the Tigers Defense can be picked apart and this Canes Offense has a QB who’s electrifying, an excellent RB and GREAT Tight End. The biggest question is can the Canes slow down Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne? I don’t think so, Tigers by two scores.

TCU QB Max Duggan – (Brad Tollefson / AP)

Best Unranked Games

UVA 31 NC State 24

The Wolfpack were a much better team with Devin Leary at QB last week, but I really like the UVA defense and think they make a big play to get the win.

TCU 31 Kansas State 21

TCU is better than most people realize. They were close to beating Iowa State and probably would have if Max Duggan played the whole game. According to PFF, Skylar Thompson is the highest rated QB in the Red Zone this season. But he was injured last week and didn’t return. If he’s healthy this week, don’t be surprised if KSU won this game or made it closer than my prediction.

Pittsburgh 20 Boston College 17

Boston College is making big strides under head coach Jeff Hafley. Last week they came close to upsetting UNC. Pitt is coming off a tough 1-point loss to NC State. This game will be a defensive game, and the Panthers win a close one.

Mississippi State 31 Kentucky 28

This could be one of the best games of the weekend. Last week, the Air Raid and KJ Costello struggled and the Wildcats are trying to avoid a 0-3 start.

Remaining Games

Thursday

Tulane 34 Houston 31

Friday

Louisville 31 Georgia Tech 24

Cunningham is expected to be good to go vs the Yellow Jackets and the Cards have too many weapons on offense to lose this one.

Saturday

Liberty 42 ULM 24

The Flames are looking to go 4-0 and QB Malik Willis is expected to be back.

South Carolina 28 Vanderbilt 14

If the Gamecocks somehow lose this game, Will Muschamp will have the hottest seat in CFB.

Syracuse 24 Duke 20

The 12 vs 15 match-up in the ACC. The Orange need this win to get to 2-2 in conference play, and the Blue Devils are trying to avoid a 0-5 start.

Army 38 The Citadel 10

The Citadel have been known to give teams trouble with the option. The only problem is Army practices against the option everyday. Black Knights by 28.

Arkansas State 34 Central Arkansas 27

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a FCS over FBS upset in this game.

Troy 28 Texas State 24

This was a tough one for me to pick. I like the Bobcats +7.5 and wouldn’t be surprised if they get the upset.

FIU 33 Middle Tennessee 30
Temple 27 Navy 21

This is the first game of the season for the Owls so I’m interested to see how much rust they have.

ECU 29 South Florida 28

Last week I hit the West Virginia vs Baylor score exact and I’m making a crazy prediction here on this score. East Carolina gets a Touchdown at the end of the game to make it 28-27 and goes for two, if it happens play the lottery.

Marshall 24 Western Kentucky 20

This game is actually one of the best G5 games of the weekend. Marshall is undefeated and the Hilltoppers are a team who could definitely get a big upset.

Louisiana Tech 31 UTEP 21
Charlotte 37 North Texas 31
