Champaign Rising: a look into Fighting Illini football

Like many programs around the country, Illinois football has gone through a spell of disappointing seasons. However, there is nothing to fear for Fighting Illini fans because football at the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana is on the rise. Coined “LittyvILLe” by Running Backs Coach Thaddaeus Ward, the program in Champaign has been catching the eye of many talented prospects across the country. The Illini staff is coming off a decent 2018 recruiting class that is ranked 55th Nationally and 12th in the B1G Ten. On the surface, that doesn’t look like a great recruiting class. However, it is loaded with underrated talent.

The 2019 Class

The Illini staff has kept the momentum into their 2019 recruiting class securing commitments from some big-time talent, headlined by 4-star ATH Isaiah Williams and 4-star ATH Marquez Beason. This is a sign of great things to come. With more Illini targets, such as 4-star inside linebacker Shammond Cooper, 4-star tight end Jahleel Billingsley, 3-star running back Vincent Davis, and 3-star wide receiver Fabian McCray looking to commit in the future, Illini football is on track to sign one of their best recruiting classes in recent memory.
