45 days until college football returns

There are 45 days until college football returns. Today we remember #45 from Ohio State, the only two-time Heisman winner, the legendary Archie Griffin.

Archie Griffin was one of the most prolific running backs in college football history. And he has the accolades to prove it. He’s the only player ever to lead the Big Ten three straight years in rushing. He was a 3x First-team All-Big Ten and a 3x First-team All-American. In 1973 and 1974, he was named the Big Ten MVP. He was a 2x UPI Player of the Year, Sporting News Player of the Year, Walter Camp Award winner, and the coup de grace Heisman Trophy winner. No one before or since has won the Heisman more than once. In his final season, he also won the Maxwell Award and Sporting News Man of the Year in 1975.

Archie Griffin finished his career at Ohio State with 5,589 rushing yds, 6,559 all-purpose yds, and 26 touchdowns. He is also one of only two players to start in 4 straight Rose Bowl games (Brian Cushing). His #45 is retired by the Buckeyes. Griffin is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
